GitHub

Send GitHub repository events to Telegram.

Add the webhook

In your repository open Settings → Webhooks → Add webhook and fill the form:

Field Value
Payload URL https://thook.altr.dev/hooks/github/{unique_path}
Content type application/json
Secret The secret key from the bot
Events Let me select individual events, then pick the ones below

Save, then open the webhook and check Recent deliveries: a 202 means it works.

Supported events

  • Push
  • Workflow runs
  • Check runs and check suites
  • Pull requests and pull request reviews
  • Issues and issue comments (comments on issues and on pull requests)
  • Releases
  • Deployment statuses
  • Pages (page build)
  • Stars and watches
  • Forks
  • Branch or tag creation and deletion
  • Repository vulnerability alerts
  • Sponsorships (these are set on the GitHub Sponsors webhook of your account, not on a repository)

You choose the events: Thook shows the ones the webhook sends. Other events, including the initial ping, are accepted and ignored.

What you get

The title tells the event, then the details, who did it and a link to the event as the last line. The meaning of the icons is in the quick start.

The last line is a link that opens the push, the run, the pull request, the issue, the comment or the release on GitHub.

Troubleshooting

  • 401 in Recent deliveries: the Secret is different from the one in the bot message.
  • Redeliver: use the Redeliver button on a past delivery to test again without a new commit.
